Babies: 6 - 9 Months

When should I introduct baby puffs?

My child is 8 months and has on tooth that's come through and the other that it about to pop out of the gums. As far as I can tell, that is all she has. Is it too soon to see about introducing her to the puffs? When did you start them for your LO? I haven't done anything yet, but was curious about when everyone started.

Re: When should I introduct baby puffs?

  • MY LO is 7 months and we started a couple weeks ago. Mostly to have her start working on her coordination with picking them up. She still working on it but eats them like a champ. I still feed my LO puree.  I let her have them when i'm getting her food ready or when we are eating dinner.

  • Like PP, we started recently as well. DS is 8.5 mo old and we started right around xmas time. Mainly for a little variety and working on coordination. He loves them now and looks back behind him on the counter were they sit when we put him in his chair. Gets very excited! Big Smile

  • We started at 6 months.  He played with them more then anything at first.  After a week of playing and a few days of trying to actually get them into his mouth he had it down pat.  Loves them and the yogurt melts.

  • I started a couple weeks ago and my LO is almost 9 months.  She doesn't need teeth to have Puffs.  They are meant to dissolve quickly in their mouths so all they need to do is gum them around in their mouth.

  • We started puffs around 6.5 months. We'd put them on his tray so he could practice his pincher grab.  He played with them for a few weeks and by 7.5 months he could easily get them in his mouth.  They don't need teeth to eat solids as they use their gums.  Like pp said, ds LOVES yogurt melts.  He gets so excited and screams for them while I'm trying to get them out of the bag!

  • We started at 6 months, then quickly moved to yogurt melts, cheerios, and diced fruits and veggies. They don't need to teeth to chew-their gums are very effective.

  • I started my LO on puffs when she was about five months old. She does great with them. They dissolve almost instantly. Those and yogurt drops are life savers!

  • Thanks for the comments. I tried them out last night and she really seemed to like them.
