Intro/Glad to be back on these boards

Hi everyone.  I used to be a fairly active member of these boards (and the Knot boards before them) but haven't been on here in awhile.  

Hubby & I had our daughter in September of 2008.  We started to try to conceive again about 2 1/2 years ago with no luck thus far.  We were very casual about it in the beginning (and for quite awhile thereafter) because we figured that it would happen whenever it was meant to.  (Getting prego with our daughter was insanely quick & so we naively believed that it would be that way again for us, I guess.)

ANYhow.....we finally went to a fertility doc this past December & I'm now on my third month of Clomid.  I was in for an u/s yesterday morning & I had 3 good-sized follicles:  one 31, one 25 and one 22....plus one at 15 or 16 or so.  So that was exciting!  However, my post-coital test was sub-par for the first time  They are thinking that the Clomid is starting to affect it, as it sometimes does.  (Nurse told me about 1/3 of users are affected.)  My mucus was thick & cloudy instead of thin and slippery

They weren't sure if it will clear up as I get closer to O......though I imagine I'm pretty close now.  Today is Day 16 for me & I have notoriously been O'ing around Day 17 or 18.  

Has this happened to anyone else?  Is there a way for me to help the mucus get thinner?

I've heard about "Pre-Seed" but don't know much about it.  Forgive my ignorance if not....but might it help in this case?

I don't know anything about it - But are you trying on your own (in conjunction with the Clomid?)  or IUI?  I woudl assume the CM doesn't matter when they do the IUI but I'm still learning.  Maybe that would be a good next step for you.

Yea, I think IUI is the direction we'll go in next month if the mucus stays this way.  We can't get it to work with DH's work schedule & the available appointments at the office this month

I've never done IUI before.  Clomid is the only thing I've done thus far.  I'm interested to try though!

 I've been reading about Robitussin a lot this morning after some Googling.  What a smart idea; I hadn't heard that one.  I guess it thins your cervical mucus just like it thins the mucus in your lungs.  I don't know if its too late in this cycle to try that, though....considering I'll be O'ing in the next day or 2........

I had this problem so we tried Mucinex, Robitussin, and preseed. In the earlier cycles Mucinex and Robitussin seemed to help. Now, nothing does, so we just did our first IUI.

I read about the Robitussin thing a bit today & I was totally intrigued by it....

Hubby & I decided to try Pre-Seed for the next couple of nights (as I am supposed to O in the next day or 2)......so we'll see how that goes!

IUI is def on the horizon for next cycle if need be.
