Mastitis how did you know

I am feverish, had crazy chills all night and have been vomiting. My breasts are very tender and the right one hurts under my armpit.

Backstory I EP and my pumping schedule is a bit off from going back to work. Sometimes due to meetings i go 5 hours between pumps. I have also gone from 7 times a day to 6 since working and occasionally only 5.

So how did you know?

It sounds like it. Call your Ob or go to a walkin clinic. The sooner you get on antibiotics the better. Keep pumping your regular schedule.

Call your OB...my LC discourages the ER or walk in clinic if it can be helped since they have little boob knowledge.

I hope you feel better soon! Check out mastitis on kellymom.com and the le leche league...there are things you need to do along with antibiotics.  Also, I've had it twice with DD so I know how you feel...it's amazing the night and day difference the Meds make!

Other things to help the discomfort are a hot shower, lots of massage, a hot compress on your tender breast, and keep pumping. Definitely call your doc, mastitis is nothing to mess around with. Feel better!!

Sounds like it. I went from feeling fine to suddenly having chills and a 103 fever in an hour. Definitely call your OB and get antibiotics ASAP. My OB was able to call in a prescription without being seen since it was the end of the day - if you don't get it treated soon it runs the risk of becoming an abscess and that is some seriously bad stuff. Feel better soon!
