Tax Returns

I'm bored.

FTM, did you notice a big difference in your tax situation this year with the addition of LO?

If you are getting a nice return, do you have any big plans for it?

My plan is so ridiculously un-exciting, but I am looking forward to it. I am stocking up on a year's worth of household items (toilet paper, toothpaste, cleaners, etc.) so I won't have to buy them until next year. The exciting life I lead these days, eh?

PS. I cannot change my siggy picture. Apparently it will be Christmas forever when I post something.

Re: Tax Returns

  • We added another LO this year so we're getting a good one, we're getting a new couch which we desperately need. Other than that probably hold onto it at first. I like to see the money there for a bit Stick out tongue

  • I'm curious to see how having a second baby changes things. Our big plan is to pay off as much debt as possible and bulk up savings. We'll need some household items when we move but I'll deal with that then.

Currently going through our second deployment. Can't wait for Zoe to meet her daddy!

  • We haven't done ours yet but DH has a small side business that doesn't make much but we didn't really pay quarterly taxes. Hopefully we get something back.

  • I think we might get something back, but we had such a big changes with our financial situation, so who knows. My husband is already planning so next year we will hopefully break even.

  • No, even though we have LO now, I made way more last year since I've gotten a big girl job. So we are getting about the same.

We are paying for our belated honeymoon cruise with our tax return.

Just realized this sounds irresponsible, but since we are using tax money for our cruise we can pay a huge payment to my student loan debt that month. We would have used the money going to debt for the cruise but instead, we get to do both!

  • I bet we'll owe. I had a small capital gain selling stock for the downpayment on my house and we aren't eligible for the child tax credit. FWPs.
