I don't like how it sounds - I agree with PP about subdivision, or a tacky college spring break attracting beach... I don't know why. I know it is a legit name, but it just doesn't do it for me.
I really like it...however, in some areas of Latin America it is slang for certain body parts. I had a student named Paloma, and on some occasions when her name was said, a group of immature boys would burst into laughter.
