I'm watching Can't Hardly Wait. I love this movie! I was in 11th grade, I think, when it came out so it reminds me of high school and that got me reminiscing lol
I was a cheerleader, like a wired peppy cheerleader. However, I was in all advanced classes and did dual enrollment. So I was a brainy, hyper cheerleader lol
What were you like???
Re: GTKY: High school
and Best Robotics] I was in student council, I did color guard with the marching band, I was on the dance committee, I was the photo journalist/author for the school news paper, and I did community service almost every weekend. I did UIL from time to time as well. I also took all AP classes and was on the AB honor roll every report card :]
Dang you were busy!
I was also friends w a lot of different groups of people. Ironically, I wasn't popular, at least I don't think I was. I kinda hated the super popular group. I just really loved the stunts and jumps in cheerleading. I started w gymnastics in elementary school, but there was no gymnastics team to join when I moved in 8th grade
What just happened in my diaper?!
I've seen almost every 80s classic movie, but I've never seen Heathers. Guess I need to!

I got in to one. There's 17 fully selective schools. Hornsby, my school, had only gone back to being selective a couple of years before I started the test so it was something of an unknown entity because none of the selective students had graduated yet [there's 6 years of high school here, we don't have junior and middle high in separate schools]. Since being all selective HGHS rarely ranks below 6th in the state.
Because we were a selective school everyone in our grade had been something of a nerd. In years 7 and 8 I hung out with the group that listened to popular alternative rock music, who in time would be one of the groups going out drinking and partying on weekends. In years 9, 10 and early year 11 I sat with the goths who remain my closest friends still. I know one didn't identify as goth, and we probably wouldn't be obviously goth if you saw us walking down the street any more... But it's how we identified ourselves, although we also included Trekkies and Star Wars fans and dr who etc.
Unfortunately I felt like I had to leave that group as I had a BF who I wanted to talk about [noone else did], and he went to the school that one of my friend's dad had been employed by and was in the process of suing. It wasn't nice. Said BF is now DH.
The group I sat with in the rest of 11 and year 12... Eh. I'm not sure what I'd call them. Studious? Not really really nerdy, but they were one of the Caucasian groups [more than half my grade was of Asian decent] that were focused on academics not partying. I made a couple of good friends there, but never as close.
So, in summary, I identified as goth, confused the popular people who couldn't see beyond their own little world [much to my delight], ended up being willing to talk to almost anyone, was probably a nerd, but in a grade full of nerds didn't really stuck out academically. I did one choral group for much of it, but that was all by way of extracurricular activities.
We were probably very similar in HS. We need to do an Orlando GTG one day!
