transportation effect cs amount?

I posted this question in response to a cs modification post below but it was so late it didnt get a response. Modification isnt something we will be able to do until next year (income changed by 24% and a 25% change is required OR every 3 years) but I noticed the documents ask for all of NCP bill info tho the amounts are considered when establishing cs. I am assuming they want this info to easier track NCP down upon no payment. However, the state asks for all visitation related transportation to be submitted.Does your state as for this information ? If so, does it effect support amounts? I'm just curious about it since we pay thousands in plane tickets every year.

Re: transportation effect cs amount?

  • In my state you can petition to have transportation related costs awarded but I don't know if it is part of child support. The state doesn't ask for that info - you have to request it. In my state a lot of it depends on the distance as well as who moved and why.

thanks for the response. I really wish we didnt have to move but we are a military family. I dont expect the courts to recognize the visitation transportation costs and apply it to the child support amount, but I dontknow why they would ask for that information.

Is it possible the CS could be raised to help the other parent cover the transportation costs?
In our case DH is the NCP and he covers all transportation costs. It wouldnt benefit us if CS paid to BM was raised and I dont see how it could be justified.

First if all, BM slept with and got knocked up by a man in the military damn it.  She KNEW the risks of the effing job. Therefore, she SHOULD be responsible for 1/2 of the transportation costs.

If she doesn't like it, she shouldn't have fucked it. BM tried to pull this ***, except she was military too and met and married DH while they were in Germany.  Back in the 1990s the judge saw through that and forced both to cover the costs.

Second, all you can does ASK to have the cost of transportation taken into account when adjusting the CS payments,  I would also insure that The court does NOT take into account special pays or BAH, since you DO move more than 3 years and while a lower BAH may make it tight n the budget, it may not be 25%. That too is not fair.  If readjustments were easier, then I would have no problem with it, but it's not.

The judge basically said the visitation is optional and if DH wants to see his child then he will financially cover the costs to do so. Honestly, I don't expect BM to cover the cost of the flights and I know she would not be able to afford it. I would however like the court to acknowledge the amount if they ask for it.

Yes BM knew what she was getting into in regards to the military lifestyle. He joined th military two months after they married and nine months after ss was born.

However bah, BAS and any other allowances are counted as income in our case because the state specifically outlines them as income. If we received wic or food stamps those would be the only "income" not considered for cs
