Trying to Get Pregnant

Increase of miscarrying after IUD removal?

I suppose google can be the enemy, but I've found a lot of posts of people getting pregnant very quickly after IUD removal but losing the pregnancy early on. Anyone know if there are any facts that would support a higher rate of miscarrying after conceiving too quickly after removal of an IUD?

Re: Increase of miscarrying after IUD removal?

  • I asked my doctor about this (I had mine removed in November) and he said that everyone has the same 30% chance of a m/c with every pregnancy. So how would you know if it was from the IUD or not.

  • I've heard so much about this as well. I just got mine removed so we shall see!! It's hard to tell because there are so many factors that affect m/c

  • Speaking from experience (on the miscarriage post-IUD part, not the getting pregnant quickly part), I think people really just want to find a reason that something like that happened. It's easier to blame an outside source than just accept the fact that sometimes these things happen. There are plenty of people who carry to term just fine post-IUD. Personally, I would stop looking for trouble on Google. It's not going to help and it's not going to change what might happen one way or the other.
  • Alright, thanks ladies.

  • I wanted to add something. When things go well after an IUD removal, those are not the people who post things on online forums. It's when things go wrong that people post. It's like the news in that sense, ie, the negative things are more sensational than the positive things. As a metaphor, you're reading about the plane crashes and school shootings of IUD removal -- not the every day success stories. KWIM?
