I would love to hear if any bumpies have found success with acupuncture helping to improve their fertility. Have any of you ladies given it a try, and what was your experience with it, whether positive, negative or indifferent...I am interested to hear your stories or opinions on this matter. I have a history of ovulatory dysfunction/ irregular cycles/amenorrhea and have been looking into trying this method to help my issue. TIA!
Re: Acupuncture and TTC
I had acupuncture 2 months ago for chronic shoulder pain. I had been to chiro and massage that provided temporary relief.
I have not had pain in my should since! Incredible.
My gf who was trying for 8 months to conceive #2 tried acupuncture. A few sessions a month and got KU that cycle.
Needless to say, I booked an acupuncture apt for next week for fertility and I will definitely update!

I LOVE acupuncture. I began seeing an acupuncturist after I found out I had a cyst on one of my ovaries. Suspecting I may lose the ovary during surgery I sought help prior (even before starting TTC). After my surgery in Sept 2012 (which did result in the loss of one ovary/tube) DH and I ditched the BCP and officially began TTC in October 2012. The acupuncture has helped regulate my cycles from 35+ days to 28 days. I'm finally in the habit of charting but I'm fairly confident I ovulate around day 13-14 based on CM and ovulation pain. I haven't gotten a BFP yet but I hope the combination of acupuncture bi-weekly and Chinese herbal supplements keeps things on the up and up and we'll have a BFP soon
So long story, bottom line is I highly recommend it.
I recommend finding an acupuncturist that specializes in women's fertility
ETA: Spelling like a big girl
Did acupuncture for 4 months starting April 2011 and also 4 months starting February 2012. The first time (April) the acupuncturist had me show her my charts, said I had liver qi stagnation, said the ovulation spike of .40 degrees is not high enough and had me take herbal pills called yang three times a day, I went for acupuncture once a week on regular weeks and twice a week during ovulation week - for electro acupuncture during ovulation week. I didnt conceive, didn't see any changes honestly and my insurance no longer covered sessions so I stopped going.
The second time (Feb) I gave it a chance with acupuncturist that only sees and treats women with fertility issues. She didn't care to see my charts, only wanted to see my fertility test results - gave her copy of my medical records. She had me start on herbs 3 times a day, everyday, gave me different herbs for week of AF, week after, ovulation week and 2WW, she also did electro acupuncture on ovulation week and cupping on my lower back. I did notice ther herbs caused me to relax and not obsess or even talk about baby, I noticed AF arrived without cramping, no PMS - it felt wonderful, I stopped going because I didn't conceive, got impatient after 4 months and insurance coverage ran out, I would recommend it but don't think it's a 'magical way' to helping you conceive.
Trying since Jan 2011. Unexplained IF.
2 IUIs = BFN.
1 IVF (Dec 2013) = BFN.
FET, 2 frosties (June 13, 2014)
14dp5dt-June 27 -BFP, beta 2061. 2nd beta >5000, 3rd beta >5000, 2 sacs 06/30.
Twin Girls - 02/11/15 - at 37 weeks (no NICU, home with me at 3 days).
I have my first appointment next week, but my primary reason for going is to help manage anxiety. I will definitely bring up fertility and TTC though.
Best of luck.
That's great that it helped your shoulder. I've been on the fence about trying it for my shoulder and now stress. I think I just might try it. Hope it helps with fertility for you!
