Soooo sad...

Took my little man for his first day of daycare today so that I could go work in my classroom and get things ready for my first day back to work Monday. Well, not only is my classroom a total sh** show, LO only slept a total of 35 mins the whole day and was lying on an activity mat red-faced crying when I went to pick him up. Mind you, we are paying $1,300 a month for this daycare, so I would consider it to be very good quality. The teachers said he was laughing and smiling most of the day...but I can't stop crying thinking about him not getting the love and attention he needs since I have to go back to work. Hate this!

  • I'm sorry. My classroom was a mess when I returned to work too so I feel your pain. Hugs. It gets easier but it's tough knowing your little one was upset even if it is only a short time... Just can't be the same as one on one!

  • WOW!! 1300 a month?? I hope that situation isn't the norm when you pick up your son. I know it was his first day but if he is consistently left alone and crying when you come get him, pull him out of there! Maybe drop in unannounced in the next couple of days just to see how they are interacting with him. That will put your mind at ease. Transitioning to daycare is soo hard but LO will get used to it and you will feel more comfortable taking him. Just make sure they are giving him attention while he's there. I highly recommend the surprise visit.

  • I'm sorry.  I promise it gets better.  We had the exact same problem my DS's first couple of days of DC.  He refused to sleep and at the end of the day he was overtired and finally melted down shortly before I picked him up.  Seeing him sobbing and having him pass out in my arms almost immediately when we got home broke my heart.

But (and here's your hope!) he is doing a MILLION times better.  He smiles at our DC provider when I drop him off in the morning and coos good bye to her at the end of the day.  He started napping in the swing after a couple of days of adjusting to the noise from the other kids, and he is even sleeping in a crib for naps now.  He honestly naps better at daycare than at home.

    (((hugs)))

  • Omg you are totally freaking me out and gave me anxiety! I have been pining over whether to do a nanny or daycare for reasons like that, I keep picturing LO crying and not getting attention. I think I would have quit my job and stayed home if that happened to me! I'm sooooo scared and have to do this in a few weeks :(
