Oh my goodness, the flu hit our household, and hit us hard. I got sick last Friday, and am just now feeling better today. My DD got sick Monday night, and by Tuesday was down for the count. I was able to control her fever almost all day Tuesday but early afternoon, it took off. By the time the doctor saw her it was 103.9. They checked her for RSV, then swabbed her for the flu, and it came back positive. They gave her Tamiflu, which has been a fight to get her to take! Then my DH got sick, and of course he was on his death bed, you know he's a guy.
We are all feeling better finally! I hope no one else on here gets it because it was miserable. Also a heads up our pediatrician said she has saw an alarming amount of RSV cases this year. Which freaks me out since we had to sit in the sick child waiting area at the doctor's office....I hate it! It's like we are just sitting in an oversized Petri dish!
Re: we survived!
So happy you guys made it through this! It's very scary when our LO's are sick.
DD had her first cold/fever this past week and was up to 104 a few times. Between waking up every hour to check her temp and putting her in the bath multiple times throughout the night (... does 3 am count as night still?!) to bring her temperature down despite her already taking both motrin and tylenol, I was totally wiped. I was also terrified because we have never needed to give her medicine before and it felt like we were suddenly all in. On top of that I think one of the times I had her at the Petri dish... er.. pediatrician's office - I got a 24 hour virus and was soooo sick to my stomach, and still trying to go to work all week. Ugh.
I have to say that I was so grateful to my husband, who was thankfully not sick and helped a ton when he was not working himself. I said to him many times last week that I have so much respect for you ladies who are single moms and have no idea how you do it. I really mean that with so much sincerity-props to you girls!
