Moby Wrap?

Sorry if there was a post about this... but does anyone have a Moby Wrap and if so, do you love it?  I live in Florida, so some reviews I have read say it is too hot to wear.  I plan on getting the Ergo Sport also, but want something I can wear sooner rather than later.  I have heard the Moby is hot, complicated, amazing, etc., so I would love some opinions from the ladies who have actually used one! Thank you :-)

Re: Moby Wrap?

  • I love my Moby with my newborns.  I use it until they are 3-4 months and then I usually switch to the Ergo.  My only word of advice with the Moby is to make sure you wrap yourself in it before you leave the house, because it is sometimes hard to do while in a parking lot and the fabric ends up dragging on the dirty ground.

  • I loved my Moby.  I got it before I had DS and then gave it away, thinking I wouldn't be having anymore kids.  It was great.  The baby looks comfortable, you're comfortable, it's versatile.  Practicing with the wrap and a stuffed animal or baby doll will help in gaining confidence with it.  The yards and yards of fabric can be a little intimidating.  The only other carrier I have tried is a sling and it scared me because I couldn't see DD (the fabric would close her up entirely, like a pea in a pod) and I thought she was suffocating.
DD: 6/30/09. Mild pre-e DS: 9/5/10. Normal pregnancy Diagnosed 6/4/12 with dermatomyositis. Currently on Prednisone and IVIG therapy. 9/11/12: Normal a/s for DS2. No side effects from my medication, yay! DS2: 1/28/13. Thankful for healthy children! Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker image

  • I love my moby as well! I used it till DD was over a year, like pp said though practice gives you more confidence. I dont find it particularly difficult to use, once you know how to wrap it you know, but it is a lot easier if you put it on before going out, than you can just stick baby in and go.

I've been practicing using mine with my 6lbs shih tzu/poodle dog. She really seems to like it ;)

Oh my goodness that sounds soooo adorable haha, I have a little yorkie who's 10mths maybe I should try with her, I don't need the practice, but it sounds funny!

That is great advice! I would much rather struggle with it at home than out and about.

This might be a silly question, but how soon can I use it?  I know I can't use my Ergo right away, but is the Moby okay?

  • I used my moby when DD was just three days old.

  • i would suggest the baby k'tan also. i found the moby really annoying (i figured it out just fine, but i just hated having to wrap it every time i wanted to wear lo). the k'tan is much easier to use, less fabric, and you dont have to wrap it.
