Nap/quiet time

My almost 3 year old still really needs to nap, but we are lucky to get one nap a week.  I have tried just implementing "quiet time" with books, but after about 10 minutes she is screaming for me. It is a never ending battle. She is so exhausted, but won't relax. Does anyone have a tactic that works with their kid?  I need a break!!!

Re: Nap/quiet time

  • We are dealing with the same thing and it stinks! I am trying to make her lay in her bed for a bit...maybe 10 minutes just to see if she might fall asleep. After that, today and yesterday I have let her watch Mr. Rogers on her Kindle in her bed. I can see her on the monitor, but I still get a little quiet time. She doesn't last the whole episode, but any little time helps! After that I encourage her to play quietly in the living room. It doesn't always go well. Lol! Yesterday she passed out on the couch she was so tired!

  • We are battling this too, but DD is just turned 2!!  It is so frustrating!  By 4-5PM she says she's ready for night-night, and is crabby.

I have no tactics.  I still try everyday to get her to take a nap and it's hit or miss.  If she doesn't nap I'll tell her to go play in her room.  It lasts no more than 30 minutes.
