Cold/cough

When do u decide its time for a pediatrican appointment? I am always on the fence.

From what I know there is nothing you can do for a cold- just have to monitor if they have a fever and make sure they are drinking plenty of fluids and eating and peeing. 

I go by if there is a fever for 48 to 72 hours then you go in.  Or change in behavior.

And speaking of colds- my 27 month old has one and I called the other day because I am always nervous it could be an ear infection- and nurse told be there is a virus going around thats lasting 3-4 days.  So unless I see major tugging and total crankiness then I wont bring her in.

Her fever has already went down and she is playing as usual- just has a runny nose and cough at night- poor babies!

Thanks. Her cough has been here for at least 2 weeks now. It seems like it has gotten worse. She is slightly more congested and tells me it hurts to blow her nose. She typically doesnt complain of this. Her daycare teacher has also told me two days in a row that DD hasnt been herself... I feel like yes its a little worse but not appointment worthy. But with the daycare teacher nagging me and now being a Friday I went ahead and made the appointment.

yep I would have done the same thing especially with it being the weekend. 

My daughters fever went away so I didnt call- but if it comes back I am calling for the first appt on Monday!

I would have done the same.  My son had "just a cold" a couple weeks ago but then the cough got to where he couldn't control it and he'd throw up because he couldn't catch his breath.  Turns out he had pneumonia.
