Going it alone after csection

I am starting to freak out about my scheduled RCS since I had a husband to help me through my first surgery and recovery and this time I am on my own. My family and my ex have said they will help, but no one is going to be able to be there 24 hrs a day with me. And I love them but they all have a tendency to flake at the last minute. I am really worried about those first couple weeks. And not being able to pick up DS for 2 months. And the stairs in my house. Anyone been through this on their own and have advice?

Re: Going it alone after csection

  • 1- have you considered a VBAC?

2- why can't you pick up LO for 2 months?

3- you can hire an aide or a night nurse, which i regret not doing for the first two weeks since i knew my mom was going to be useless and she was.

4- do you have a bathroom on the first floor? If so then why do you need to go upstairs at all? I would set up camp downstairs.

  • Sadly VBAC is only an option if I go into labor before 39w3d when I'm scheduled. Unfortunately w/ DS1 I went to 41w5d and never went into labor so I'm not holding my breath. I have considered hiring someone but money is a little tight. I'm not concerned about LO actually I'm worried about my 2 1/2 year old. His grandparents will be watching him while I'm in the hospital but they can't take him more than once a week after that. I guess I better start pricing in home help! And pray my ex is more helpful than usual!

  • I have no advice to offer except look into hiring help. And be thinking of the "last friend in the world" you expect to help you. I hope that helps. Ill be praying you get help!
