Parenting after a Loss

Return of the fever.. ughhhh!

DS great all Monday night and then fever free and much happier all day on Tuesday.  He slept a lot, but I figured he was catching up on all his missed zzzzz from the previous few days.  Yesterday, I went to work and DH worked from home (long story short -- DH had been in a car accident Friday and totalled his car -- now, working from home until he gets a rental through the insurance).. anyway, my MIL came to watch him so DH could work.. Periodically, when I checked in with DH, he said DS was being a bit fussy, didn't really nap, etc.. but, that's all he said.  Oh, he did say "he's been coughing a little but I can't tell if it's a real cough or fake cough, but it's just a little bit".  I figure, no big deal, he's had a little bit of a cough on and off the past few days since fever started Friday.

Time goes by, day ends, I drive home.  I walk in the door and DH says he has a fever again, apparently has had it all afternoon (but he neglected to tell me).. and, MIL says he's still congested.  Okay.

First thing I notice.. he's super fussy and his voice is hoarse.  His cries are hoarse.  His whine is hoarse.  Everything.  Then, he coughs.  It's not a dry "fake" cough.. it's a very WET, mucousy cough.. and I feel mucous rumbling/crackling all in his back and chest.

WTF DH.. why didn't you tell me this?!?  I can't be upset with MIL, because she knew he'd been sick, but this is the first time she's been around him.. so she just assumed this is the "sick" he's been... but, DH!!! SMH.  How do you not realize that this cough is way worse than he had?!  The ped specifically told us to watch if his cough changed and to call her.. same with his fever!

Ugh.. thankfully, my ped is great, and I called her after hours number last night.. she called him in an antibiotic and we've started him on it right away.  DH is working from home again today, but my Mom is there.. I've checked in probably a dozen times.. so far he seems okay.. at least not any worse.. and he hasn't been coughing much.. but still very congested and hoarse..

Hoping the antibiotics kick this to the curb asap.. seeing him sick is just AWFUL.
