NPR: Good place to buy frames?

I need to buy around 20 frames ranging in 4x6 to 8x10.  I'm looking for a place that has a selection, isn't overly pricey, but still has good quality?  Any suggestions?

  • HomeGoods or Hobby Lobby

  • If you're looking for something super-simple, IKEA's "Ribba" series of frames are nice...dark wood frame with light, gallery-style mattes inside. They're not super high-quality, but they're great for being as dirt cheap as they are.

For a custom job, I'd call around to locally owned framers. In my experience, they're usually cheaper and better at their jobs than the big chains.

I am another vote for Hobby Lobby.  Just about every time I go in there, the frames are also 50% off.  Same with Michaels lately.

  • I would use Michaels, with the constant sales and coupons, if you take your time and go a few times over the course of a week or two, you could have all of your frames for a really low cost.

Okay...since I don't know much about ikea (yes I live under a rock), do they ship?  I think the only near us is still pretty far away.

  • I bought 13+ frames for C's nursery from this place and was pretty happy with them.  https://www.frameusa.com/

  • Kohl's has a pretty good selection as well.
