My dh and I looked at strollers today. We actually bought a used Chicco but we stopped at a baby store and were looking at BOBs. If you have a BOB, how often do you use it? Would you recommend getting one?
I freaking love my BOB. I wish I would have just bought the BOB from the start. You can get an infant carrier attachment for it. They look big and bulky, but I have yet to meet a store I couldn't navigate it in, and I love it for jogging as well. I use my BOB all the time--at least 2-3x a week and DD is 28 months. If I would've had it when she was a newborn, I'm sure I'd have used it 5-6x a week.
If you join REI for a one-time member fee of $15, you get 20% off (it might be 15% now) of one regularly priced item and free shipping if you have it shipped to a local REI store. That's what I did last year.
I adore my BOB, but I wouldn't want it to be my only stroller. It is pretty big and takes up the whole back of my small SUV. But, it steers and rides AWESOME and I love it for jogging, trail walks, and neighborhood walks. If you want a good outdoor stroller, I don't think you can do any better than the BOB--that thing rocks!
I have a Mountain Buggy Urban, which is like a bob, but to me has a few advantages, like a better basket and a smaller footprint. I have over 2000 miles on it. I use it every day. If I could only have one stroller it would be an Mountain buggy.
I have a BOB and I do love it. It rides very smoothly- you can push it one handed through a snow bank. Honestly, I think any stroller in that price range will ride a billion times more smoothly than a used Chicco.
It's a little big- I think you'd be fine with it as your only stroller for a while, but at some point you'll need to get an umbrella stroller for quick trips. But you could do that later.
I would also suggest doing the REI membership. After you sign up, you get a ONE TIME coupon for 20% off one item. Use it on the BOB!
I LOVE my bobs (I have a single and a double revolution). I wish I had skipped the Graco and gone straight to my bob because I love it that much. The only thing that it doesn't have is tons of storage - but I don't find that to be an issue. You will not regret the Bob.
