names ending in -ey

I know it is a little early to be thinking about names but i don't want to happen this time what happened my last pregnancy....we don't find out what we are having so we were stuck between two names for a girl but we had a boy name....as i was pushing dd#1 out i just turned to dh and and said you name her....well he picked Aubrey and i absolutely love her name even though i had wished he picked avaley.....

That said i kind of like the idea of keeping with the -ey theme and am having a hard time coming up with names...so far this is what i have come up with:

Girls: middle name will be Ruth....Hadley, Hayley, Amaley

Boys: middle name will be Jon....Wesley

P.S.- Dh and i like two different types of names...he likes more common names that people have heard of and i like more unique names....

HELP!!!

Re: names ending in -ey

  • There is a baby name board. Those girls are awesome, I'd suggest posting this thread there.

  • I love Hadley!
  • I like Hailey (not Hayley)  How do you pronounce Avaley and Amaley?  The way I think they are pronounced sound made up, not unique.  Going with the ey ending is fine, as long as the names don't rhyme... imo...

  • I love Hadley. That is my #1 choice for our LO if its a girl!

  • I like Haley, not Hayley.  -ey names would be fine as long as it's not all rhyme-y or matchy matchy.  Avaley and Amaley just sound made up and I would give those names the side-eye if I saw them somewhere.

  • Hadley is one of my favorite names!  Unfortunately, our last name also ends in an -ey so I feel like it won't go together :(  Pick Hadley! ;)

  • I'm sorry but I don't like Amaley and Avaley... they sound made up and people will constantly struggle with pronunciation.

Hadley is very pretty and I like Hayley as well.

Why exactly do all the names have to end in 'ey'? I agree with pp that typically these names sound very cutesy and don't carry into adulthood well.

  • I am with you, I like more unique names and my DH likes common names. I really like Hadley for a girl. So cute! DH and I already have our name picked out for both a boy and a girl. I like our girl name better though. ;)

It doesn't have to but i like that my dd#1 is aubrey...so i wanted to stick with the ey ending....not necc. have to go with that ending...just like the idea

  • Girls: Jayley, Kayley, Abbey (could use as a nickname and name Abigail)

    Boys: Jeffrey, Bentley

Unisex: Avery (I thought it was just a girls name, but I have a male student with this name so apparently it is unisex)
