Good morning,
I hope this is ok to post on this board, I don't want to hurt or offend anybody, so please forgive me if this is out of line. I tried posting on ttgp, and received a nice welcome, but nobody seemed to have much advice on our situation, which I understand.
We started trying for baby number 2 right when we got the clear at my six week post partum check up. My cycle came back right away, I didn't breastfeed due to health reason. I got my first post partum period about 4-5 weeks after giving birth, and have charted since. We are in our 12th cycle. Every cycle has been normal, I have ovulated, confirmed with temperature shift. Luteal phase is well within normal range each time. Our timing has always been spot on. There is nothing that could even possibly point to an issue on my charts, but being as we are at the 1 yr mark, we are considering our options.
Is 1 year still the suggested time frame before seeking an RE while trying for a second? Would you seek help after one year if you were given no evidence of an issue on your charts?
Re: Questions about when to seek help
This board is a place for ladies struggling to conceive again.
I would find an RE and get tested.
Good luck and please keep posting if you want.
The general rule of thumb is to see an RE after 1 year of trying if you are under 35 and after 6 months if you are over 35. I assume these guidelines apply to those who have a child/children, although I know they are definitely for those who have never conceived.
I say, at this point, if in doubt, see an RE for some testing, so you can be informed about any unknown fertility issues and get some advice about how to move forward, regardless of your results. Good luck!
IVF #1: 9/11: ER: 12R, 11M, 10F, No Frosties; 5dt: 2 blasts, 1 morula; DD born 6/3/12
IVF #2: 11/12-12/12: ER: 20R, 20M, 16F, 4 Frosties; 5dt: 3 blasts, DS born 8/9/13
Thank you! I wasn't sure if that rule of thumb remained the same when trying for subsequent children.
