Shettles Method....

We started trying for baby 2 around Christmas and decided to try the shettles method for a girl since my 1st is my DS. Can't believe I got pregnant so fast... So here's to hoping it worked! I am having a COMPLETELY different pregnancy than with DS. My hopes are high!
What do y'all think?

Lol, I personally think all of these sex determination methods are old wives tales.  With 50/50 shots, there are always going to be people that think it works, but I used to work with a pediatrician who swore by it!

 I could care less as long as I have a healthy baby I get to bring home.

 

 However, a girl I work with says she is 2/2 with using Shettles. We had sex three days before I O'd (not because we were using the method, because that is how it worked out)--so I might be inclined to believe in it a bit more if we do end up with a girl.It will be interesting to see.

I got pregnant with DS by DTD O-4. So Shettles was a failure (we were just trying to get pregnant, we didn't care for a certain gender). This round we are O-2 and I feel very different that I did with DS but that means nothing!

By the postings I got made it seem I am a selfish person only cared if I got a girl. I would love to have a girl ,yes, because I have a son and also this will be my last pregnancy. But all I truly care about is that it's a healthy baby. I was only curious to know what other people's stories using Shettles was.

Friend KD "tried" for a boy twice and got boys both times.  Friend KB had sex on the day of ovulation and found out at the US its a boy.  I had an IUI done the day of ovulation so I'm assuming we're having a boy as well (too early to tell and I don't want to know anyway) but I'm a firm believer in Shettles and the ph method (diet).  Good luck!

We did not do Shettles, but with DS we concieve on O-1, and with this LO we only had unprotected sex at O-4, we are finding out so I guess we'll see whether we conform to Shettles, although we weren't trying for that, we were in fact TTA...oops

Since is this my first, I truly have no gender preference. Maybe by my 2nd (and last), I'd feel differently. This baby was probably conceived pretty close to O. I have two potential O dates, making it either O or O-1, so I guess that means boy. I did have a dream that I had a baby boy during my TWW.

It has worked both times for us, not because we tried to do it that way. Based on the dates we BD and I O'd it fits the exact logic behind Shettles.

Since this LO was a surprise then we really will be surprised when we find out, as I have noooo idea when this one was conceived.

I understand some with sensitivity to the the topic because they have had fertility issues however this is supposed to be a supportive, fun board. She was just asking what people thought opinions of the Shuttles method and if anyone has tried it in a fun light hearted way. I think some responses came off that she is being selfish for even wanting one sex over the other.
As a second time mom and one who has been on a board before, there are going to be MANY issues that come up such as staying at home vs. working, breastfeeding vs. bottle, cry it out vs co sleeping. I am not suggesting that advise or opinions not be given but I think we can do it in a kind and gentle way. We can all probably say that we take advise and opinions better when it is done that way. Just a thought...
As far as Shuttles goes, my husband and I did it tried for a boy for our first just to see and we had our DS. This time around I stopped charting and got pregnant to our surprise. We will see. I had a dream the other night that we had twin girls, my husband told me to bite my tongue .

I agree that there will be many issues and many different opinions, and that's all fine and dandy! Not everyone is going to get along or agree. I'm sorry my comment was a bit harsh, I hope OP can forgive me. The fact of the matter is I'm hormonal. Not only because of pregnancy, but my first pregnancy that ended in a loss was supposed to be born this Saturday. I'm pretty sassy/emotional/cray cray. This just triggered something in me and I apologize if I hurt anyone's feelings over this. Hope you can understand.

My second pregnancy was different than my first and I have two boys.  But I will be interested to find out the sex of this one since we had sex before I ovulated where with the last two I'm pretty sure it happened at the time of ovulation.  We weren't actively trying shettles, but I've read about it so we'll see.

I am sorry, deeply sorry for anyone who has gone through a miscarriage. I really am. But, you shouldn't throw that in someones face and imply that they are shittty or a bad a person because they are hoping for a girl after they have had a boy. Lots of people would like to have at least one of each sex. Doesn't mean if it doesn't happen that way, that they wont love and appreciate their baby.

This is fascinating! I had never heard of the Shettles method. Once I get a dating u/s in about a month I will be able to tell better how our timing worked out, but according to my current charting we are likely looking at a boy on the way. I'll (fingers crossed the LO sticks around) let you know if it's the case in September!

Also, CamiButter, that was such a sweet apology and OF COURSE you're a wreck right now. It must be a very difficult and emotional time for you and my thoughts will be with you this weekend.

I agree. I've had two losses and I wasn't offended. Of course I want a healthy baby no matter what, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't secretly hoping for a girl. I think it's normal.

I had a miscarriage and am still hoping for a boy this time. Obviously I want a healthy baby, first of all. Who doesn't?! So when you say "I just want a healthy baby"...no sh*t. Everyone here does. I'm sure first and foremost, that is what everyone wants. But for someone to have a preference in the sex, doesn't make them a bad person.
