actually 2. first i was wondering if anyone has tried the nature made brand prenatal vitamins? is that a good brand? all of the choices are so overwhelming!
also i keep seeing where red raspberry leaf in vitamins is a bad thing & can cause miscarriages & things. but then i see where it might be a good thing because it better prepares your uterus for childbirth? i'm so confused, just wondering if anyone knew anything about that. thanks in advance!
Re: vitamin question
Red raspberry leaves in large quantities in the first trimester can be harmful, but in small quantities is is very beneficial. It is great for morning sickness. It is most beneficial in third trimester in terms of birthing. Look up "Wise Woman Herbal for the Childbearing Year". It is an excellent book at talks in great detail about raspberry leaf, nettle leaf and any other wild leaf that can be beneficial.
ETA: I use Vitamin Code Raw Prenatal vitamins and I really like them. I got them shipped off amazon as it was the best price I found.
I use the Nature's Made brand with DHA. My midwife suggested that I get vitamins with DHA added. I am now nursing, but have been taking Nature's Made since about the beginning of my second trimester. Before that I was taking a Walgreens-brand vitamin without DHA. When I switched to Nature's Made, it gave me nausea and stomach aches at first. I didn't have any morning sickness during pregnancy, except my first week or two on the Nature's Made vitamins. Once I switched to taking the NM vitamins at night, on a full stomach, I didn't have any more issues. But for whatever reason, I wasn't able to take the NM vitamins first thing in the morning on an empty stomach like I could with the Walgreen's brand.
I don't know enough about Red Raspberry Leaf to comment on that.
