My OB said that I'll probably go early since its my second birth and the births are close together. Is this true? I have heard STM's go sooner, but didn't think about those whether close births do.
For both I went on my due date. Don't get your hopes up that you'll go early. That's what I did and it made it so hard when I didn't. It's much more pleasant when you prepare to go a week or so late and happen to go early than that!

This sort of...I was expecting to go at least a week late with my first (I'm a lurker...sorry), so I figured I had a little more time to prepare, thus I was procrastinating the little things I wanted (like perfecting his coming home outfit). He came 9 days early, and I felt under-prepared. I will say that I was very happy to be done being pregnant though.

In my case, our 2nd was born earlier. His labor was way quicker. He was bigger than his sister too. DD weighed 5lbs 10.5ozs. DS weighed 6lbs 1oz (Yes, at 35 weeks!!). Who knows how big he would have been at full term.
DS was born at 38w5d 12 hour labor begining with my water breaking, vaginal delivery.
With DD I was in the hospital for an NST at 36w and I was having regular contractions that didn't stop with multiple doses of terbutaline(sp?). I had complete placenta previa so they couldn't check my cervix. She was born via c section that day.
Don't count on it. DD1 was born at 38 weeks, DD2 at 40 weeks 2 days. I was convinced she would be born at 38 weeks, too, and the last two weeks were torture.
I was miserable the last 4 weeks of my 2nd pregnancy because I bought into this thought, even when I tried telling myself not to! DD came on her own at 37w, DS was induced at 40w2d and took a TON of convincing to come out even then.
My babies don't want to come out. Induced at 40 weeks 5 days with DS1. Induced at 40 weeks exactly with DS2 (I wasn't willing to wait any longer). Labor was much better the second time, but both had to be vacuumed out. *sigh*
I was really hoping for early I was even on bed rest as I was already 2 cm and 50 effaced. I had to be induced at 39 weeks!! She was holding on for dear life. The doctor was shocked I didn't go early.
My first was 37 weeks
They really don't know
But the second labor was fast and super easy!!!!
I fully expected to go super late again with #2, and pretty much did. Labor was faster and easier in the beginning stages, but pushing was worse (but that was due to him being over 9lbs vs. my 6lb14oz DD#1 - so the whole babies getting subsequently bigger was more of a concern!)
Both of mine were born at 40w3d. I was expecting to go earlier with the second, which just made the last couple of weeks really really long and drawn out.
I am convinced that coffee is God's gift to mothers.
Re: Baby #2 labor question
DS 1 was born 38w6d, after a LONG and HORRIBLE labor
DS 2 was born 37w6d, and it was the easiest labor ever
GL!
Thanks everyone. It's hard not get your hopes up, but will try to be realistic.
I can see ds2 being 40 weeks, 5 days like his bro....ugh

DD1 - Induced at 41w1d.
DD2 - Induced on my due date, because she failed her NST (her cord was wrapped twice around her neck).
my read shelf:
With DD1 I was induced at 10days late. With DS2 he came (without induction) 10days late. Don't get your hopes up on going early.
DD was born at 37w0d.
DS was born at 35w2d.

DS1 was born at 40w3d; labour 9 hours start to finish, 2 hours pushing.
DS2 was born at 39w6d; labour <2 hours start to finish, 3 pushes
Both were 8lbs8oz
FX! Lol I know I'll go late again. My OB gave me hope, but it seems pretty split.
My first was 37 weeks
They really don't know
But the second labor was fast and super easy!!!!
ds#2 was 37 weeks 6 days 2 hour labour, fast and intense
they are 19 months apart
DD#1 - 40w8d, 24hr labor (2.5hrs pushing)
DS#2 - 40w5d, 9hr labor (2hrs pushing)

DD1 was 3 days early
DD2 was 3 weeks early
I'm kind of nervous about how early this LO will come, though I have a feeling he's going to come late just to throw us all off. lol
DD was induced at 41 weeks.
DS came on his own at 39w3d.
Nope. Not true.
DS was born at 37 weeks exactly. DD was born at 39 weeks (with induction).
