Don't kill yourself researching these. Every baby is different, some hate what others love. My only advice for a swing is to get one that plugs in. Otherwise, save boxes and receipts and plan on exchanging things a few times until you find something your child loves. When you do find it, life is so much better!
Re: Advice re: bouncers, swings and jumperoos
LOL ditto, but don't stress about a swing that plugs in. Out little lamb swing does not and with twins and daily (and nightly) use, we have changed the batteries once. Plus, during Sandy and other storms, we could use it without power!
And buy used - craigs list is the best!!

And with the delivery trifecra of one twin vaginal, one c-section with general anesthesia for twin B, Spencer and Sidney joined us at 35 weeks exactly on June 18.
Ditto, we never had to change the batteries in our swing either.
You will be surprised at how quickly all this "gear" just gets outgrown and packed away!

The plug in ones usually take batteries too
My old Rainforest can plug in or use batteries.
We had the Little Lamb before we got a Snugabunny and it destroyed batteries. We replaced them approx once every 3 weeks. Our daughter used the swing for naps, but not at all at night.
The Snugabunny takes batteries OR plugs in. The motor was also significantly quieter.
