Amh

I was wrong on my earlier post...is was my AMH level that was a bit lower than the normal level. I guess everything else looks good, even my FSH. Anyone else have a similar situation? My RE didn't seem too concerned, I suppose because everything else looks good and it wasn't much lower than the normal level. Would love to hear some success stories right about now...ivf as soon as my period starts in a couple weeks.

No heartbeat at 8 weeks. Miscarriage. 3 IUI cycles with clomid. all BPN. 4th IUI cycle with injectables (follistim 75iu & ovidrel). BFP, ending in miscarriage.

Re: Amh

  • I sm a success story!  I also had low amh as my only diagnosis - .75 at age 31, when doc said he would like to see it at 1.75.  My fsh was within normal limits, maybe on the higher normal side, and doc said that my low amh kind of skewed my fsh to a little above normal.  The RE put our chances of conceiving without intervention at something like 5%.  We were about to try IUI after trying naturally for about 18 months, but I got a surprise positive hpt yesterday!  I honestly had given up hope of it happening without intervention.  Good luck to you, I hope you also have success!

  • Thanks for your story...it's so nice hearing stuff like this. Plus, I love the reminder of what a miracle it all truly is. My son was conceived so easily and it's so hard to believe that I'm now going through all of this...and preparing for ivf of all things. Best of luck to you as well!

  • My son was also conceived so easily, our second cycle trying, so when we didn't get pg for a year, then found out that i have a fertility issue, then still didn't get pregnant some more, it was quite the shock.  I never ever thought I would have trouble the second time around.  It's so crazy!

  • I'm not a success story yet, but I hope to be!  I wanted to let you know though that my situation is similar.  I have low AMH with everything else normal, even FSH.  We've gotten 4 BFP's while TTC#2 but none have stuck.  We're in the middle of IVF#1 now and hoping this will be our sticky baby.

    My DD was born August 09, so she's the same age as your DS. :)

  • Oh my goodness! We're very similar! I'll be starting my ivf cycle in a couple weeks when I start my period. I think we need to be cycle buddies...seems pretty meant to be ;

  • 2IF graduate...success story...conceived DD in 2008 on 3rd try...found out AMH was 0.48 back in April 2011....everything else was within normal range...ended up doing my IVF cycle in November 2011...transferred my 1 embie on January 22, 2012...he is now sitting on my lap...so it can happen....

    I'm 38 now and reading about AMH made me feel like I had one foot away from sitting on a rocking chair at the old age home...

    Just don't lose hope!

  • Thank you so much. Yes! I have felt the same way! I'm not old, yet I feel just like you said...one step away from an old folks home just because of having a slightly low AMH.

    congratulations - this is nice to hear.  I have a terrible AMH at .25 - I think this IUI cycle is a bust - so we are going for IVF next cycle.  I was shocked with this issue as we did not have trouble conceiving DD who is 19 months.  Honestly, I had never even heard of this until they tested for it.  Im 34 and the doc seemed fairly positive given my age - but I can tell you, Im not feeling so young

    thank you, and good luck.   I was pretty much convinced it would never happen without intervention, I had even asked on the SAIF board about success stories with low amh and every one posted was the result of IVF.

     If you don't mind, can I ask if you had to follow my special protocol or take any meds once you were pregnant?  I really do not like my re, and since we got pregnant on our own, I was just going to go back to my regular midwife.  I figure the only think the re would really do would be betas to check my bloodwork... Just wondering! Thanks!

  • Mine was 0.31 at 37, but my FSH was okay even during the clomid challenge test. I had to do 5-6 medicated cycles before I had success. Injectibles alone didn't work for me this time, I ended up doing an IUI w/ follisitim to concieve DC#3.

  • Lurking...

    I had primary IF not secondary IF, but I was lurking from SAIF.  My AMH was 0.54 and my FSH was 13.3 and I got pregnant through a Clomid/IUI (with progesterone afterwards through first trimester).  Our RE had put our chances at less than 10 percent with an IUI and told us to go straight to IVF.

    IF DX: DOR & Fragile X pre-mutation carrier
    2011: FSH 13.3 & E 99; AMH 0.54 2nd FSH 6.2 E 40's AFC: 8
    BFP from Clomid/IUI ~ Pre-e and IUGR during pregnancy ~ DS born 9/4/12
    Feb./March 2013: AMH less than 0.16 (undectable) and AFC = 4;
    BFP from supps ~ DS#2 due May 2014

  • Labs in siggy. I was 34 at that time.

    We TTC for 8 cycles (charting, fertility monitor) and got very lucky. My RE said I had about a 20% chance of conception with IVF. I got the donor egg speech at my very first appt.

    So, it is possible.
