Bleeding after ectopic surgery?

Does anyone know what's 'normal' in terms of vaginal spotting/bleeding after ectopic surgery? The information we got when I was discharged was generic to gynaecological surgery, so doesn't really seem to apply to surgery that ends a pregnancy (the nurse actually said to ignore many of the points in the pamphlet), and although I've googled my brains out I can't seem to find anything definite.

Since surgery I've had some red spotting whenever going to the bathroom, which didn't concern me, but this morning I was woken up by horrible cramps (like my worst period cramps x2) and heavy bleeding with clots. Now I know I have a uterine lining to shed, but what little I could find seems to say this shouldn't happen for a few weeks yet. I'd like to think it means my HCG levels are way down, but I have no idea if they could go down this fast (as of surgery my beta HCG was over 10,000). 

Any thoughts are much appreciated!

I have no experience with this, I'd call the doctor just to check with them on what you should be expecting.

I wish I had some words of wisdom, but I really have no clue. Have you contacted your doc yet? I bet they'd be able to better explain what's going on and whether it's normal. Hope you're doing ok.

I bled on and off for about a week about my ectopic surgery.  It began as spotting then became heavier.

I was told I could bleed off and on for 6 weeks post surgery. My period came 35 days later and I had basically dwindled down to no bleeding within 2 weeks of surgery.
