Short vent/whine

Packing up a house while 35 weeks pregnant with a 2 yr old while your DH isn't ever home (working 12 hr shifts) while also still working full time yourself SUCKS. Whose idea was it to buy a new house and move?? Oh yeah, mine. Oh and we are renting the current house out when we leave, so all those dirty dishes and the packing mess needs picked up by Wed. when the leasing agent is showing the house. SUCKS I tell you.

  • Oh man, that would be awful! It is so hard to have a full time job and also be expected to be a full time homemaker. (Believe me, I'm not putting down SAHMs, there's no way I could do that job, truly).

My favorite quote is "trying to clean your house with a toddler in it is like trying to brush your teeth while eating oreos"

Love it!  I put things into boxes, turn around, and he's unpacked it for me. :)

  • Oh wow thats gotta be tough!  We bought a house and sold a house when I was in 3rd tri.  I think I pushed myself so hard that thats one of the reasons I had Bishop at 36 weeks.  So...I hope you're not working too hard!

I might try too hard in a couple of weeks! I want this baby to come on his own, minus inductions and csections! :)

  • That would be exhausting without being pregnant and having a 2yo. : You deserve some rr!
I used to be a big deal.  Now I'm just old.
  • So sorry pitterpatter, that must be frustrating!  I hope you can get lots done when N's asleep, but you must be so tired already.  Sad

  • That sounds awful. Packing sucks without a 2yr old and being pregnant.

  • You should definitely check what the movers can pack for you! I helped my friend move, and the movers packed all of her dishes, pots and pans, kitchenware, closet clothes, books and knicknacks. They did it soooo fast too. If I had any idea that movers also packed for you, I would have taken advantage!

Aw, yes, but we are the movers too. :)  We'll be renting a UHaul and moving about 45 min away.  I'm very tempted to see what movers cost.  I've never seen anyone use them around here - we've always moved ourselves.  Maybe if they are cost efficient, I can talk DH into it.

  • Oh pitterpatter, what a challenge! I think moving alone sucks, let alone with a 2-year old and while pregnant and while working and while DH is working long hours! Any one of those things is a tough burden...

Even if you can't get movers, see if you can outsource some things (childcare or cooking or packing) to somebody else for the next few days. I remember feeling a bit weird about asking for help in a tough move, but at a certain point, you can let down your guard and just have the sister-in-law or neighbor pack the linen closet or kitchen cabinet.

    Sorry and hugs!

  • I'm impressed.  I just moved sans pregnancy and it nearly killed me.  If it wasn't for DD being on a good nap routine and being in DC I wouldn't have gotten it done.

You should seriously check with UHaul, I know that they contract with people to help with packing and moving the boxes on move day.  I have no idea what the cost is, but it is worth investigating.
