JnK

Another annoying food question.

I'm making mashed potatoes for dinner tonight. I was going to make myself some mashed cauliflower too. Last time I made it the cauliflower was really lumpy. Is this something you make? How do you keep it from being lumpy?

Re: JnK

  • Butting in here
I like to do 1head of cauliflower and 12 potatoes together. I agree that just caukiflower can be lumpy so mixing in potatoes helps smooth it out a bit. I also add in lots of garlic.

Oh!!! Thank you!! How do you cook the cauliflower? And do you use a blender type thing to smooth it out?

  • I'm sorry, Rachey.  I've never made mashed cauliflower.  I would google search lump-free mashed cauliflower and check out some recipes and their reviews.  I can't imagine that it'd be that hard to find a good recipe on the interwebz...  I hope!! :)

It has never occurred to me to make these, although they'd likely be really tasty!!

It just seemed like something you would make because it can be paleo! I've only made it once and it was yummy. Just like the real deal!

    I'll google it. :D

  • I just steam the cauliflower or boil it until it gets pretty soft. And I use a potato masher for the most part. I tried an immersion blender and it really just made a mess. I don't know if it wasn't cooked soft enough or what but it didn't work as well as just doing potatoes.

My original plan was to let the potatoes boil for twenty then scoop them out and boil cauliflower until super soft. But, then my back started hurting and I was tired. So I just made the potatoes. I think I'm going to make the cauliflower tomorrow.

    Thanks for the tips!
