Intro - Grad (DS)

I wanted to give a quick intro.  I am excited that this board has been added as there are so many questions, struggles, triumphs, fears etc that go with having to use a DS/DE no matter the reason you use one (single parent, fertility issues, age, same sex household etc).  What's great about this board is the struggles don't stop once you achieve pregnancy as they are emotions that will carry throughout our lives.  I feel this will be a great source of support for all of us!  Plus it's like a melting pot for all types of families and experience.

About me, I am currently pregnant with twin boys and will deliver in 10 days.  I am in a same sex relationship but we will still deal with the fact that only one of us is biologically tied to our boys and we were unable to create our family on our own.  I feel this is the same struggle any couple who has to use a DS/DE will deal with.  Like many LGBT families we use DS as we were missing a key ingredient. That didn't lessen the sting or stop the questions of what if.  After a year of ttc we discovered I had fertility issues so we switched gears and sought an RE.  We were finally able to conceive using medicated IUI.

I have heard from my partner first hand how it sucks and hurts we had to use someone's DNA from outside our family.  I also know what it's like to worry about my partners bond with the babies. Questions are always running through my head as well about whats to come should questions arise later from people in our lives and our children.   Luckily we have fared well so far through pregnancy in this department and all she talks about are her boys.

Again so glad this board is here as I feel it will offer support on issues others who have not been here cannot fully grasp and bring experience from all different family types. 

It's an emotional journey to say the least.
