Really!?

Anyone else out on short term disability? Mine pays up to baby's 6 wk bday for a normal delivery. Just found out today they consider a c-section a normal delivery and even though I am not allowed to return to work until 8 wks pp by my ob/gyn, they will not pay me the last 2 weeks!!!! Can I fight this? CSection is major abdominal surgery!! Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated!

Re: Really!?

  • I would think so. That's really crappy. I hope you get it straightened out.

  • I live in pa. I'm going to call the disability company myself tomorrow!
  • I would call. 8 weeks is the norm for c-section.

  • I have STD with Aetna....you get longer for c section...try the provider and then I'd talk to your doctor. If your doctor says 8 weeks it should be no different than someone who had major surgery. If they wont give it to you but give paid STD to other people in your company for major surgery past 6 weeks... you might have a viable lawsuit option.
