sippy, straw, or regular cup?

Anyone having any luck with any of these? I introduced the sippy and regular cup but she seems indifferent to them. She doesn't even hold her bottle. I mean I've gotten her to do it, and she can, but I don't think she wants to much. All I keep hearing from people is how all of their babies were off the bottle by 9 months. She's still drinking 8 bottles a day so she's pretty hooked on them and wants nothing to do with anything else. I'll keep trying!

  • No reason to be off a bottle until they're off formula it's not like lo gets breastmilk from any place besides the boob!

We have all sorts in the house because of my toddler lo likes the soft spout cups best right now, my toddler liked straws at this age. We have better luck taking any stopper out and letting lo make a mess so he knows what it's supposed to do rather than expecting him to know to suck.

  • We offer water with his food since he's BLW.  He loves drinking out of any open cup but isn't so good at the tipping (He's been holding his own bottle for 2+ months).

The other we like is this one because it teaches them to drink correctly but if he drops it, it only spills a few drops

  • We went with straw sippies because they are suppose to be better for oral/speech development. With DD I had to 'teach' her how to use the straw by holding water in a straw with my finger and letting it go into her mouth. We use the playtex ones. Once she figured it out she was obsessed and dropped bottles for sippies around 9 months, but she was the only kid that I knew like that. She also wasn't on bottles much because she was EBF until 8 months.

DS, welll he picked up his sisters sippy and started drinking. He likes to drink and spit it back out, so I don't think he will be full on switching.

Both of my kids liked to drink out of an open cup from a young age, but only with me holding it. I would say around 1.5 DD could proficiently use an open cup, but she still spills a lot, so most of the time we use a sippy.

  • My LO can drink out of an open cup if we hold it, but uses a straw sippy for water at meal times.  She cant really grab and tip the cup herself (likes to grab the straw instead) but is really good at drinking from a straw.  We use the cheapo take n toss cups.
