Stroller Crazy.

In the process of preparing for our boys this spring.  My MIL kindly bought us a tandem stroller/ car seat combo (Chicco) and our friend who had twins years ago just gave us a very nice side by side (Macclaren Turbo Twin).  So... we started the project of going through all of the single baby stuff of my son's as there are things I want to sell and trade right now and I'm debating whether or not I keep our nicer single stroller (also a Chicco which means the car seats will fit!).  I can't imagine that I'm going to get out of the house with just one baby - like EVER - but what if? Also thought it might be nice to wear one baby and walk with the other sometimes.  It just seems like such a ridiculous amount of strollers to have around though.  Any twin mommas out there that can offer any reason to ditch or keep the three stroller options around, would be appreciated!

Re: Stroller Crazy.

  • I very occasionally leave the house with just one baby (if we're both home and one is napping and I take the other one out on an errand just to get him/her out of the house or to give DW a break, etc.). I've yet to need a stroller, but if I did I'd just use the double and throw the diaper bag into the other seat instead of in the basket underneath. I see no reason to keep a single, and if I did I'd just get a cheapy, tiny umbrella stroller, not store a nice one. Our space is too valuable (i.e., filled with too much other twin junk! :))

  • On occasion I do end up with just one baby at the store while my husband stays home with the other or if the other one is sleeping, but it's rare. When this happens, I just wear whichever twin I have rather than using a stroller. I don't have months and months of experience, but I'd say that keeping the single stroller might come in handy like once every two-three months, but so infrequently that it's prob a waste of space.

  • My boys are still too little for real strollers, but there have been a few times I have wished for a single stroller that could accept a car seat. If one baby has a medical appointment, one of us goes and one stays home with our other son. A stroller would be awesome since those car seats are getting so heavy!

  • I would keep it. We occasionally have a doctor appointment with just one. I'll take them and brother stays home with dad. It's a pain pushing a double for one kid.

  • If you have the space I say keep it ....but consider the source is someone who has 4 strollers hehe I have 2 singles and I do find it handy at times!
  • Honestly, I think three strollers--one tandem, one SBS, and one single (and maybe later also a single umbrella stroller) is perfect when you have twins. Ditto pp that there will be dr appts and things where you take just one kid, and I do think it's also nice to sometimes have the option of wearing one and pushing one in the stroller, like if you're in a crowded store or something and don't want to deal with a double. There also may be times when it's helpful for you and your H to each have one in a single stroller (probably more when they're a little older, like if you're at the zoo and they each want to see different things or you just don't want to deal with a double in the crowd; there are pros and cons to each option).

  • There are definitely times I take one baby and leave the other with DH and wish I had a single stroller. I think I'm going to get a cheap single stroller at some point so that I have this option. So I would definitely keep it.

  • Just wanted to bump this one. Now that nearly a year has gone by, I've learned a few things. 1. The single stroller has never been used for a twin. HOWEVER we did start bringing it out for long outings for my oldest and it's been a godsend for zoo trips! So glad I hung onto it. 2. The Chicco stroller did it's job but as the babies got bigger, it became a pain in the butt to maneuver and they hated sitting in it for the most part. The front seat is very, very upright. 3. That having more than one child makes you an inconvenience in public by default. You should opt for the best comfort for your family without being a total jerk. Hence, the purchase of our bumbleride indie twin! I love it and I don't feel remotely bad for taking up more sidewalk because of it! It rides beautifully and better yet can be steered with one hand! Which the maclaren could not.

  • Thanks for returning :) we are opting for a side by side stroller for our twins, I am glad to hear it works well!
