Re: Dead baby tooth?

  • I'm so sorry, that stinks. I am not that well schooled on pediatric dentistry but my suspicion would be that they'll leave it as is, since I wouldnt think a root canal on a baby tooth is something they'd do (but, I think those teeth are at higher risk for infection or something). GL!!!

  • As long as it's not causing your LO pain and there are no signs of infection (swelling of the gum tissue, "pimple" on the gum, fever), no treatment is recommended.

  • We had a similar situation. Back in October DD fell at daycare and hit her mouth right on the edge of their fireplace. Luckily they have that soft guard on the edge of it could have knowcked her teeth right out. About 3 weeks later I noticed the top right tooth was turning grey. We went to the dentist in December and the Dr. did say that if it got worse and she got an absess that we'd have to pull it. She took and xray and it didn't shwo any trauma or infection. I just checked closely again tonight and they greyness is going away. Hallelujah! She has a follow up appt. in March to check it again.

Good luck. DDs was lightly grey so I'm so happy its going back to normal.

  • Thanks ladies, well good to hear its not just us
Yea hopefully the dentist will say no treatment necessary, but still such a bummer
