2nd Trimester

Terconazole...

Have any of you ladies had to use this while pregnant? If so, did you have any bad side effects?

The pharmacy had troubles reading the prescription, which makes me nervous. I think I am going to wait until tomorrow to start taking it, because I want to call my doc tomorrow and make sure it's really what they prescribed me. It is used to treat what I need it for, so I'm thinking it's correct.

 Thanks in advance! :)

  • Have you been prescribed this before? Is it the generic name of what you were taking already maybe?

If you are unsure about the med- I'd wait and call your doctor in the morning, to be sure.

It's very uncommon for a prescription to be handwritten these days- for future reference I'd ask your doctor why they aren't submitting them electronically or at least giving you a typed script, so that there is no chance of them being misread.

    Did you google it?

I've read about it on WebMD.

I've never been prescribed anything like this before. It's for yeast infection. I've never had any problems with yeast infections until I got pregnant, so it makes me very nervous to take while pregnant. If my OB prescribed it though, it should be ok.  I was just wondering if any ladies have taken it before and if they had bad side effects.

I am calling in the morning to be sure.

I haven't used this while pregnant, but if it is what your doctor intended and safe, just FYI it worked extremely well for me, better than any other prescribed yeast infection medication. So relief is on the way!

I am so glad to read this! Thank you! :)

  • Hi, I'm new here, but I know that your Dr. Shouldn't be prescribing anything in cream form but in the pill form metronidazole 3 times a day for your issue.

Metronidazole is used for bacterial vaginosis (vaginitis.)  I have already used that medication in cream form, because it was more recommended than pill form. Metronidazole will do nothing for my yeast infection.

  • Oh ok. My Dr. Told me prefer I used the pill v.s. the cream because of the dangers. So every Dr. Is different!, because I remember with a couple of my dd's that I had used the cream, and just last year I used the cream and the 1 pill a/day v.s. the 3 a/day. But if that's what you have than definitely the stuff they gave you! GL

After the 7 day treatment did nothing my OB prescribed this.

I tried the Monistat 7 and it seemed to ease the symptoms, but looks like I needed something stronger! Thanks!

Metronidazole is for bacteria, so it wouldn't do anything to a yeast infection. I'd rather go with a topical than a pill, due to placenta crossing...

This. I was always given fluconazole for a yeast infection. Thankfully I have only ever had 2.

I will have to look this up and ask about it at my next appointment! Thanks ladies! :)
