and HATING IT.
DS used to be our champion night time sleeper. Naps were crap, but we figured we couldn't complain too much because we'd put him down around 8 and guaranteed we wouldn't hear from him again until at least 4am, usually 5-6am. He'd take a bottle and go back down for another couple hours. It was great.
Just over a month ago when he was 5.5 months that went out the window. He'll wake up one to four hours after going down, and from that point on he's up EVERY 30-60 minutes crying or screaming. Lately every time he's on his belly which he HATES, but he can't roll back over to his back yet so he's just stuck. We are at a loss. Last night he was up every 25-30 minutes from midnight on. We CAN'T keep doing this obviously, and I know he CAN STTN...we just have to help him figure this one out.
Any tips? Did anyone go through something similar? We're trying to get him to go down for a nap right now and all he's doing is SCREAMING himself hoarse upstairs because every time we go in and soothe him and leave, he flips back over onto his stomach again. (Trying to do the whole Ferber progressive-waiting thing.) We've tried leaving him on his stomach when we go in to soothe him...he just screams harder and harder and I'm afraid he'll throw up or pass out from hyperventilating. I don't know what to do but DH and I are zombies ![]()
Re: ? from 6-9 month board...rolling onto tummy while sleeping
My daughter does the same thing. She rolls over on her stomach, and she hates to be on her stomach. We just put her in her Snugabunny Rock n Play, so she will sleep on her back. And we are still trying to transition her to the crib. We are taking it slowly. It seems like she will sleep a little bit in the crib on her back or on her side. But if she rolls over on her stomach--she is like stuck. She still sleeps the best in her rock n play.
And we have an exersaucer for her to play in during the day.
With our son, he was a stomach sleeper. But when he first started rolling over he would roll over and sleep on his face, so we put him mostly on his wedge (to keep him on his back) on the floor for the first year to sleep during the night. And then when he was 1 years old, it was easier to feel better about keeping him in his crib. And my son transitioned to his toddler bed cold turkey when he was 2 years old.
