S/o carseats

If DD stays where she is on The growth charts the bottom, it looks like she could still fit in her infant carseat britax b safe for a long long time, like almost till she's two. Is that crazy? Is there a reason not to leave her in it that long if she still fits? I'm thinking it would be awesome to keep her in it till 2, and then switch her to one of the britax seats that's for ages 2 and up and that converts to a booster, but is there something I'm not thinking of?

  • Should be parentheses around the bottom. She is in the 5th to 10th percentile for height and weight.

  • It might be possible. Is her height in her torso or her legs? Once there is 1" of hard shell over her head the seat is outgrown regardless of overall height. Also, are you sure you want to turn her forward facing right at 2? I prefer to keep my kids RF to the limits of a taller convertible seat, although I know not everyone chooses that route.

  • Usually kids grow length wise out of the seats. Infant seats were not meant for long term use either. Just for the first 6-12 months. If you want to keep your child RFing safely, but not have to buy another FFing seat that goes into a booster later then look into a Diono Radian RXT. Seems silly to keep them in the bucket past a year. More so since it's not just weight you have to worry about, it's height too.

  • More than likely she'll grow out height wise first. I don't really see the infant seat being comfortable for an average toddler but I'm sure people do it.

  • Yeah she's actually lower for height than for weight, poor little stocky thing! But I hadn't thought about my plan not allowing her to stay rear facing past two. You all are right , I will look at the radian.

  • As she gets older she might really dislike being so reclined and not being able to look around or see much.

  • My kid didn't hit 20lbs until he was 19 months old...but the infant carrier got really annoying/heavy so we ditched it around 8mos and put him in a convertible - he was RFing until he was 3.5yrs.
