On a scale of 1 to 10...

Need to check my crazy scale here. Mil is dating a new man. We've meet him 3 times. Each time he insists on cooing over my children, taking pictures etc. The first two were holiday events, so less weird. Today was the 3rd time and it was just lunch. He seems nice enough but I'm reserving judgement. Mil is acting like, well she's in a new relationship. She is great normally. But in front of him it's like she has to prove that she's grandmother of the year. She constantly takes my kids and it feels show offy not genuine. She ruined Christmas Eve with this behavior.

So here's my crazy check. I normally have no issue letting her babysit but tonight I refused, graciously, because he would have been there. I don't feel comfy having him there to watch my kids. Or her in this state for that matter. Crazy???

Agree with everyone...no way, no how.  I wou;d have probably had a problem with all the pictures too...wierds me out

All of this exactly!! If it makes you uncomfortable at all, don't let it happen. So not ever feel bad about trusting your instincts! You did the right thing by turning her down!

Thanks ladies. I said it to DH and he said he doesn't share my feeling and it just made me wonder... Yeah the pictures bugged me but I know it's the principal that irritated me, not the reality. So I'm trying to let that go.
