Cloth Diapering

disposable liners?

My DS loves fruit which means he always has soft poops.  We don't have a diaper sprayer and I don't really want one b/c I have an in-home daycare and I know it would be a battle to make sure the toddlers don't always play with it. We currently swish the diaper in the toilet; not my favorite task to say the least.

If you use disposable liners do they stay put or bunch up? Are they helpful for those soft poops? Recommend a flushable brand?

Re: disposable liners?

  • I'm assuming you meant your DS? You made me LOL!  My liners stay bunched up but I have a little baby so not sure how they hold up with a kid on the move.

  • I hated disposable liners. They constantly bunched up and barely caught any poop. They created a bigger mess to clean up. That was before DD was walking. I can't even imagine using them on her now as a toddler. There are mamas out there that like them though.
  • Liners didn't work well for us with soft/loose poop. It kind of helps, but not 100%. I used Kushies (kind of scratchy) and Bummis (softer).

DS has been pretty easy to train not to touch the sprayer. I would have quit without one. The "gross poop" stage was a full year long for us.

  • We use the flushable liners from AlvaBaby, and haven't had any issues at all with DS1.  DS1 loves fruit as well, so he always has soft poop and it works great to catch most, if not all, of it.  Being able to flush the liner really helped me convince DH to do cloth because he was hesitant to have to swish the diaper in the toiler or use a sprayer as well.

  • We use Bububibi disposable liners.  They generally don't bunch up too much.  They work great with most soft poops.  Every once in a while some gets on the edge of the diaper.  We have a cheep spatula that we use to scrape the edges if we need to.  We haven't had to spray or dunk since we started using them.

  • I LOVE the disposable liners. We've used them ever since DD started on solids at about 6 months and have never had any issues. I definitely recommend them. We use the grovia brand. They don't bunch up or move around in her diaper at all.
