Anyone have/had one? I got some lab results online and based on my Dr. Google research it looks like I have a UTI - email in to my Dr and just waiting to hear back. I have never had one before, but what I read online was they just give you some antibiotics that are pregnancy safe.
Re: UTI
I haven't had a uti while pregnant but I do currently have a vaginosis or something like that Ive done two rounds, one round of pills and one round of this cream insert.
I have heard though that UTIs are common during pregnancy, they have pregnancy safe meds to clear it up
I have chronic, completely a-symptomatic UTIs. It is super annoying, especially when I find out about one once it goes full-blown kidney infection, which has happened a couple of times (luckily none in the past 8 yrs or so, fingers crossed).
So I was unsurprised to learn that I had a mild UTI after my first appt. The midwives just gave me some pregnancy-safe antibiotics and that was it. I had to take them every 6 hrs, which was annoying, but they didn't aggravate my nausea (though it would be hard to tell).

I actually am getting over one now. Your doc will prescribe some antibiotics that you will take for 10 days. You can also drink cranberry juice to help get over it faster. Lots of fluids. Dont hold it if you have to pee! Go as soon as you can.

This. Luckily I haven't had one in a while but I used to get them all the time. They were super painful. It doesn't sound like you are in much pain though, so that's good. It should clear right up with the antibiotics.
Is it painful and you suspect one, or did your labs come back indicating one?
Regardless, there are antibiotics that will clear it right up, and they can give you something for the pain if you have any. Relief really starts within even one dose; not complete, but some.
They suck. I'm sorry you're dealing with this.
Labs came back that based on my online research indicate one - haven't been able to discuss the lab results with my doc. I have Kaiser and they post lab results online as soon as they come in but say that your doc's office will call you to discuss. The results that were flagged as "A" for abnormal, were what I looked up on Google and they say it indicates a UTI - as far as symptoms, no pain or anything like that, but I did notice my urine has been cloudy, which I saw was a symptom.
i could have written this, almost exactly! I've had three UTIs in the past 4 years that I didn't know about until they were very painful kidney infections.
The most recent one started just before Christmas. I didn't know I was pregnant, was put on Bactrim for a few days, then it came back full-blown, 5 days after starting Bactrim. I was then put on Cipro & a pain reliever that made my urine orange. I Found out I was pregnant a few days later, immediately stopped meds, and was switched to Cephalexin, every 6 hours for 10 days. It sucked getting up in the middle of the night for antibiotics! It helped though. Hopefully yours won't get bad and you won't have to worry about it. At one point, between Bactrim and Cipro, I had fevers every night and could barely eat for about 3 days. It was awful. I'm much better now.
Sorry OP, hope you get better soon! UTIs are awful. I love the pain reliever tabs that turn your pee orange. That always makes me laugh! it looks like crazy bright orange crush pee!!! haha. I'm a super weirdo for getting such a kick out of that.
ETA that was the first uti I'd ever had but they said it wasn't weird there were no symptoms.
Cranberry juice will not cure a UTI.
There is a hypothesis that the proanthocyanidins (PACs) in cranberries will work to prevent the adhesion of E. coli to the uroepithelial cells. There have been multiple studies testing this with differing results. However, once E. coli is already attached & actively infecting you urinary tract, cranberries will not help. Also cranberries will not prevent a UTI that is not caused by E. coli.
