I haven't been here in forever!

So my daughter's father and I are no longer together...and it is messy to say the least.  He refused to be a reliable person to watch her while I worked nights.  I couldn't afford a babysitter for that amount of time 5 nights a week.  I had my parents take her to their house 2 hours away until I start my new job in Feb.  

He was NOT happy I did this.  He is threatening to go to my parents house and take her.  Can he legally do this?  We were never married, he did sign the BC, though.  He mentioned going to the Sheriffs office and then going to their house to get her.
