Just ran into this on Slate - about how (methyl) mercury in fish is the kind to worry about, while the kind in thimerosol in vaccines (ethyl) mercury is harmless. Since there was a thread a couple days ago about vaccine worries.
Sorry - don't know how to make clicky.
Re: How timely - a mercury-vaccination article
There is so much information out there it is hard to decide what to do. Often I find myself on the fence, usually I error on the side of caution / with homeopathy myself.
This came out yesterday:
Studies Find Flu Shots Can Harm Your Heart, Infant And Fetus
https://www.greenmedinfo.com/blog/studies-find-flu-shots-can-harm-your-heart-infant-and-fetus
I personally will stick with vaccines. Disease is natural, I personally would rather not get the diseases
There's so much BS in that article, I don't even know where to begin. Yes I do, the very first sentence:
"Flu vaccines, according to the best scientific evidence available today, will only work against 10% of the circulating viruses that cause the symptoms of seasonal epidemic influenza."
WRONG. Actual data:
https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/season/flu-season-2012-2013.htm
"Findings from early data suggest that this season?s vaccine so far is reducing the risk of having to go to the doctor for influenza by about 60% for vaccinated people. The data are published in ?Early Estimates of Seasonal Influenza Vaccine Effectiveness ? United States, January 2013,? in the January 11, 2013, Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. These estimates are within the range of what is expected during seasons when most circulating influenza viruses characterized by CDC are like the viruses included in the vaccine, which is what we are seeing this season. These findings also are similar to those published in a recent meta-analysis, which summarized the benefits of influenza vaccines using data from randomized controlled clinical trials. Influenza vaccination, even with moderate effectiveness of about 60%, has been shown to also reduce the following: flu-related illness, antibiotic use, time lost from work, hospitalizations, and deaths."I really hate this pseudo-science BS that circulates and scares people out of vaccinating.
Also, do you even know what homeopathy is, or what it means? I have heard so many people use this term mistakenly believing it means some vague thing like "all natural remedies" or some such thing. Homeopathy is actually the notion that if you give a highly diluted version of something that will cause a similar undesired result in a healthy person, it will cure a person with that ailment.
Just to play devils advocate...

For the record I'm not anti vax and will most likely vaccinate on a delayed schedule, but it makes you wonder why they are awarding millions of dollars if there is in fact no correlation...??
Yup, The Stir by Cafe Mom is totally scientifically factual! For real!!!
I mean, why bother with actual peer-reviewed studies when you can just look up mommy blogs to make decisions about life or death matters regarding your children?
Well, seeing as the links that I posted are not studies but a fact that the vaccine court just awarded millions of dollars for 2 children with autism. I'm not sure they would need to make a peer reviewed study on a court case.
Edited for typos, and I meant to quote the last comment not sure why it didn't work.
