I am pregnant with my 3rd child, and doc does not want to consider a VBAC. Which is fine, i really am not going to fight it. My previous C-sections were fine and I healed fast.
My question. Can I ask my gynea to go into labour on my own,and wait it out till 40 weeks, to make sure baby is ready to come? My 2nd was not ready and ended up in ICU for nearly 2 weeks after birth with breathing problems. I had him at 38 weeks and 2 days, which imo was to early.
Is it safe to wait?
Re: Going into labour naturally then c-section?
It's recommended that c/s are done after 39 weeks, so you have a good argument for waiting. You could also schedule your c/s for as late as possible (maybe past 40 weeks, even), and then come in when labor starts. I don't think most doctors want to wait for labor to start, but I think it's a reasonable request on your part.

This. I would begin with trying to schedule the c/s for as close to 40 weeks as possible. It just depends on why your doctor won't allow a VBAC whether actually going into labor is safe for you. Is it policy or do you have significant risk factors? Those questions are best answered by your doctor.
My doc has a 39.5 week rule. Something about the baby's lungs...
I'm due on Feb 18th but we're doing it on the 15th because the 18th is a holiday here in Canada. I hope that I can go into labour naturally. But if not, I feel pretty sure that we're getting as close to the date as possible.
I think it's bad practice to schedule it after 40 weeks- just because of the possibility of the placental insufficiency.
