Special Needs

Moving to San Diego

Our family will be moving to the San Diego area. We have a son who is in 1st grade and on the autism spectrum. Any advice on which schools have the best special Ed? He is mainstreamed and high functioning. Also if you could recommend a nice area to live it would be great. Thanks!

Re: Moving to San Diego

  • Rancho Bernardo in northern San Diego is a wonderful, quiet, and safe area, my brother still lives there. I went to high school at Rancho Bernardo HS, I remember a guy with CP in a lot of my classes but couldn't tell you about SE classes or elementary level.

  • We have had incredible service for our son in the SOlana Beach school district. Our son is set to be in typical kindergarden next year with whatever supports we write into his IEP. Regional center has also supplied us with tremendous support- aba 10-20 hours a week in home all funded by the state. recommend highly. sadly they have not taught me to type on an ipad
