"The Happiest Baby on the Block" book......Any thoughts?

Hi Ladies,

I was told about this book and was wondering if you would recommend reading it. Did you find it helpful?

  • Amazing, life-changing book if you have a newborn... for the older baby, he has a second book/DVD called "Happiest Toddler".  It is apparently for 8 months and up.  We got it for Christmas, but I haven't watched it yet.

  • It was a good book and had lots of great points/research...more "duh" moments than anything else...nothing really profound.

  • It really helped me at the newborn stage, but if you've made it to 7 months I don't think it applies much.
  • I'm a big Babywise fan.

  • Agree, our kids are definitely too old for it.  I still use a little shhshing and she sometimes takes a binky.  But the main principle is swaddling - which our kids are too old for.

It was a decent book, but it wasn't the cure all.  Whenever I swaddled DD, she got even more irate.  It did not have the calming effect the author describes.
