Bouncers - what's the best?

I've been looking at the snugabunny and the rainforest both by Fischer Price. I hear lots of good things about the rainforest, but the snugabunny does look safer and more cozy. Any advice?

Are there any other bouncers I should look at?

Re: Bouncers - what's the best?

  • DD hated the bouncer, so ours was barely used.  We used the RNP instead.

Our bouncer was a bright starts brand and got great reviews at the time.  I'm hoping to use it a bit more this time around.

  • I have the FP Rainforest and cannot  have lived without it.  All three of my kids have loved this bouncer.  The vibration, the toy bar with the waterfall effect and the music.  I would say hands down, this is the best bouncer.

It is not unsafe at all. There is a buckle to strap the baby in and honestly, I barely use it.  I am not worried my LO is going to fall out.

I am curious as to why you think it is unsafe.

  • It doesn't look like it has enough head support like the snugabunny. A lot people complain about the toy bar breaking and it making a clicking noise. did that happen to you?

I'm a first time mom and nervous about every little thing! I am worried that when I try to put the toy bar in its not going to click and fall and hit my baby.
  • I registered for the Snuggabunny because I also thought it looked the most comfy. It is super soft and cozy and I would think if you have a baby that actually likes being in a bouncer, they'd love it. My son ended up hating being in the bouncer and I could only get him to tolerate being in there just long enough for me to take a shower. You never know what your baby is going to like though. If I had it to do over again knowing what I know now, I'd have completely skipped the bouncer and just used the Rock N Play for the shower-- that he liked and napped great in it, too.

Mine is like 4 years old.  An original!  I know they did make some changes to the bouncer. The bird no longer flips.  I did remember people complaining about a clicking noise.  Mine doesn't do this.  I hope they have fixed this issue.

I never take the toy  bar off (no reason to really)

The seat is super comfy.  It is fabric and baby kinds lays in it like a sling.

  • We have this one and when we bought it a couple years ago, it was the only one that actually bounced, like with batteries. There is a slow and fast setting. The music is nice too. We love it.

This for us too. If I had it to do over I would buy a basic one. They are all pretty much the same. The fancy auto bounce feature was a waste of money for us since dd hated the bouncer. We love love loved the rnp.

  • Would you rnp moms still use it even after the voluntary recall? I keep debating if there is a risk to using them properly vs the many benefits there seem to be?

My DDs were born pre-RnP days, so we had two sets of bouncers.  We had something similar to the snugabunny (boppy bouncers) that DDs loved for the first couple months and slept in them a ton.  However, once they got older, these bouncers got "borning".  I also had a newborn to toddler rocker (same style, but different pattern than this) which was much more entertaining.  I also got a FP aquarium (similar to rainforest) bouncer and that was a huge hit.  So, some of it depends on what your goal is.  If you'd like it to be more of a sleeping spot, I'd go for snugabunny.  If you have that type of thing covered (swing/RnP/etc), I'd probably go with something more entertaining.  I did really like the newborn to toddler rocker because it has a longer life span than traditional bouncers.

  • We also had a "boring" one with our first DD and she hated it. For our second DD we bought the FP rainforest one and she loves it. Actually, so does DD1, lol.

Ours does not make a clicking noise. I cannot comment on the toy bar as I installed it and have not taken it off since.
