Trouble TTC

Initial work-up results-confusing

I went in there expecting, "You have PCOS". Instead, I was told all of my androgen levels were fine but my prolactin was high. I fasted and didn't bd the night before, which they said can effect it, but I was stressed (also raises it). They said I do have cystic ovaries but 20% of people have that without PCOS, so I may not have that.

But my cycles are totally irregular so I know SOMETHING is wrong. Ugh, no I have to wait probably another 3-4 weeks before I can retest it and then try something new. They are also doing testosterone tests this time, which I thought they did as part of the 1000 the first time. Anyone have any advice or simliar experiences? OH....could high prolactin explain a short bleed? My periods are only 1-2 days. Of course I forgot to ask.Sad

Our Novel of TTC:

*Male Factor (low count and low motility), High Prolactin, and Polycystic Ovaries (March 2013)
*Recurrent Miscarriage testing also revealed high anti-phospholipids & single MTHFR mutation. (Feb 2014)

*IVF (07/2013): BFP-Natural Miscarriage @ 5 weeks* <3 Madison Riley <3
*FET #1 (10/2013): BFN
*FET #2 (12/2013)- BFP-Missed Miscarriage at 8 weeks <3 Kyle Andrew <3
*Chromosomes and Karotyping tests were both normal. We lost a healthy baby boy :(
*FET #3 (04/2014) was cancelled after finding Chronic Endometritis
*Miraculous BFP July 2014!! (I was taking baby aspirin and Cabergoline to stay regulated while "taking a break from TTC" and waiting to consult with a reproductive immunologist!!!)

Our healthy baby girl was born 03/10/15 thanks to daily Lovenox injections and baby aspirin. There are no words for how grateful I am for our rainbow baby. <3

Re: Initial work-up results-confusing

  • I was doing a very high protein diet when I had my prolactin checked and the levels were elevated.  Like cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt, protein shakes, eggs, all day.  They were like - stop eating so much dairy.  I did, and my prolactin went down.  Just an idea to take a look at your diet, too.  Did they schedule an MRI for your brain?
