Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Teething hell

I need help!!! DD just started teething. Today has been hell. We have tried gel teether, cold and not cold. Also have tried frozen wash cloths, my hand, pacifier teether, and Tylenol and my poor baby is just miserable. What helps your lo while teething. I feel horrible that I can't make her feel better.

I just read a post below about teething tablets. Where would I find these. I looked at everything they had at target and didn't see these.

Re: Teething hell

  • I just sent dh to get them at jewel-osco. He should be home any minute.

  • Try rolling a slice of bread up tightly then freezing and take out to let her gnaw on. I read that somewhere it helps.

  • My daughter is just turning 6 months old tomorrow and loves Mum Mums.  They are an organic rice based snack that they can chew on but they dissolve really quickly. You still need to monitor the baby if they are young because sometimes they get a little overzealous and try to shove the whole thing in their mouth.  I sit her in her high chair when she's fussy and give her a Mum Mum just before I feed her. They seem to take the edge off for a little while.

  • My son didn't like any of those either. Things that helped were chilled, steamed carrots, dippy cups with the soft tops, and those self feeders with the soft tops. He was able to chew and gnaw away without ripping of my fingers!
  • A friend of mine said Motrin worked well for her daughter's teething, but it's not helping my daughter. I got teething tablets (Hylands, Humphrey's and I believe Orajel all make them) from CVS.  I've also seen them at Whole Foods, Harmon I(not sure if you have those in Tx), and Babies R US or Buy Buy Baby are sure to have them. They dissolve under the babies tongue and can make them drowsy so if they work for you, baby will nap too!  DD also loves her Sophie teether (the ring one, not the big giraffe) b/c it has lots of textures for her to bite on.  Her first tooth just broke through on Jan 5 and the second one started coming up last week so she has only been sleeping 2-3 hours at a time (if that) and it's been hell also.  Our ped recommended a couple of nights of motrin at bedtime adn it's been hit or miss.  One night she slept 5 hours but last night she was up after 2 and thought it was time to play.  Give the tablets a shot - I hope they help you!
