Baby Names

Leighton: middle name options for girl :)

We have decided on our baby girl's first name.  It'll be Leighton (pronounced lay-tun).  We are finalizing the middle name.  What do you think about

Leighton Quinn?  This is our top choice at the moment.  I want something unique yet classy.

Leighton Isabelle was my favorite...except don't know if her initials being L.I.P. would be bad.  Another one I like is Leighton Rose.  How do all of these compare?

  • Sorry not a fan of either name.

  • I love Quinn. Leighton is NMS but I think if you use it the MN needs to be very feminine!

  • I think Quinn is pretty, but I don't like Leighton. Sorry!
  • If your title hadn't said girl I would have no clue if you were asking about this name for a son or daughter, it is far to gender neutral.

  • Quinn isn't usually my favorite but I think Leighton Quinn sounds nice.

  • Leighton is a boy name to me but one of the few that I don't mind for girls too. I like it with Quinn.

  • I know this is regional, but where I live the T sound would be dropped, and the name would be pronounced lay uhn. Same with Peyton, pay uhn. It's a horrible sound and makes me cringe. Just an FYI.

  • I like it - one of my best friend's is Layton, so I associate the name with lots of good attributes and qualities.

    You say you are looking for a unique yet classy name. If you want sincere feedback.nbsp; I must say that the name does not sound classy at all. Sorry.nbsp; Also I agree that by seeing the name I wouldn't automatically know girl over boy.nbsp;
Have to agree. It just sounds trendy to me. And I would worry about the "layaton" jokes when she's older.

EDIT: Ignore me. I was bumping from my phone last night and totally missed that you had already decided on the first and wanted opinions on the middle name. Ignore me. I still wouldn't use Quinn.

  • Thanks for the feedback.  How does Leighton Quinn compare with Leighton Isabelle?
  • I like both names, but not together. They are both too unisex. Something about the child's name should clearly define the sex, IMO.

  • I think both names are fine but don't like the way they flow together and do agree that a more feminine mn would sound better.
  • I like both Leighton and Quinn but not together.
  • I like it. I don't necessarily like them together, because I do think they each need a very feminine name to offset the other, so I would recommend re thinking middle names but I do really like both Leighton and Quinn as stand alone names.

Mucho better. I think it's very pretty. I hate Isabella, so I rather like the more simple Isabelle.

  • How about initials being LIP though?  haha

    That is non-issue.

This happens where I live too. It's really odd because there are mounTains everywhere...I hear mou-ans all the time. It drives me crazy.

Anyway, OP I agree with those that feel it is unisex...

Leighton Quinn could very well be a little boy.

  • I also think Leighton Quinn could be a boy name.  It doesn't strike me as particularly classy; the random-surname-as-first-name and masculine-names-for-girls trends actually strike me as kind of aspirational and lacking the confidence of a more classic girl name, but whatever, I may be odd.  I don't think the initials L.I.P. would be an issue.

  • I had never heard of the name before Leighton Meister came around so I associate the name as all girl. There is something I like about it, but I don't know what.

I would say that in my mind the two middle names are equal. If your last name is long I would go with Quinn.

  • I think Leighton Rose is beautiful. Since Leighton is a little more masculine, I love the thought of pairing it with something very feminine! Other ideas

    Leighton Marie
    Leighton Claire
    Leighton Noelle
    Leighton Renee
    Leighton Nichole

  • love the name Leighton! how about Leighton Annaliese? it's almost old fashioned classy, same realm as Vivienne or Isabella. of course the spelling could be changed to suit your style.

even if others don't like it, it could be worse. an old friend of mine named her daughter Harley Quinn. /facepalm
