Honestly, if he was duped, I feel sorry for him because he looks really stupid now. If he was in on the hoax, which I'm more and mroe inclined to believe based on the inconsistancies of the story, then he's an AWing jackass.

That's the first thing I thought of. It started that way and then spun out of control when he got popular.
It makes sense.
Ahh...so maybe he really did have a relationship with the guy behind the girl, and they created the girl to cover it up?
I do think maybe they "killed her off" for the publicity though.
If he is gay, I feel bad for him that he felt he had to make up a girlfriend to hide his gayness.
It makes me think that he wouldn't have been accepted for being gay within his circle of family/friends/football team.

You don't understand the appeal of Benedict Cumberbatch / think he's fug / don't know who he is? WATCH SHERLOCK. Until you do, your negative opinion of him will not be taken seriously.
The problem I have with believing him is there are are few times that he referenced seeing her. There was a "when our eyes meet" type of comment as well as a "I know I will see her again" comment made.
Also, if he really is the victim, he was an a$$ for never visiting her after her car accident, during her cancer treatment or when she was dying. So really, he didn't care enough about her to visit her during her difficult times, why did he soak up all the public support during her death?
I call BS.
