DD1 has been home with me all year, and will be starting daycare next week.
We had a visit this week, and will have another visit before she does 3 half days, and then she'll be in full-time.
She tends to be a bit shy, and I know she'll be unwilling to ask for help initially. Things like food can be interesting with her, when we've gone to a picnic, she'll only eat the food we've taken to share, even if someone else brings something she LOVES like strawberries, she won't touch them.
I'm sure the staff are skilled at settling new children, I guess I'm just trying to think of things I can do at our visit to help her familiarise herself. eg on our first visit, I made sure to show her the bathroom and have her use the toilet.
There's a couple of smaller play rooms we haven't explored yet, so I'll make sure she has a look in there next time.
Any other thoughts or suggestions? So far she seems positive and excited about daycare.
Re: Introducing 3 yr old to daycare
talk to her about how fun it is and how she'll make friends & all the fun stuff she'll get to do
try not to linger too long when you drop her off
and talk a lot when you pick her up about all the fun things she did too - my dd loves telling me what she did in the day
and she will settle in
remember it takes a good 6 weeks to fully settle in to school or daycare
